Questions about the Canadian Dental Care Plan

Canada has announced the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) to help provide dental care for eligible Canadian residents who do not have access to dental insurance. Find all the official details here.

Wondering if you’re eligible?

To be eligible for CDCP, you must not have access to dental insurance, have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000, be a Canadian resident for tax purposes, and have filed your tax return in the previous year.

If that applies to you, you can apply! CDCP applications are available in phases, based on your age. Right now (April 2024), applications are open for seniors over the age of 70, and beginning in May 2024, seniors aged 65-69 can also apply. See the application schedule here.

When can you come for a visit?

Once your application has been approved, you will receive a welcome package from Sun Life stating the date you can start seeing an oral health provider, as early as May 2024.
